The Download – 9.27.10

27 09 2010

I love Sundays at The Point.  I seldom miss.  Actually there are 2 reasons I will miss a Sunday: (1) Vacation or (2) Opportunity.  I will typically miss 3 Sundays a year for vacation and a few more for opportunities to share in other churches.  I love our church.  I love our people.

We are gearing up for 10.10.10.  Yesterday we ran through a pilot set-up and we succeeded.  We were ready to go!  Needed a few more moments for hospitality, but not too far behind.

Worship was amazing.  Pastor Micki & the team did a superb job.  No attitudes on this team!!!

The message was awesome.  Pastor Nick brought a great teaching.  Love that I don’t have to preach to love my church!!!

A lot of guests.  Great attendance.  Poor offering <— true.

13 days.  I can’t wait to download the results of 10.10.10.

Northway Church

9 09 2010

I had the amazing opportunity of speaking at Northway Church – a multi-campus church that meets in Clifton Park, Colonie & The Berkshires.  What an amazing job Buddy Cremeans & his staff has done.  The church is definitely a happening place to be.  Labor Day weekend did not keep people out of God’s House.  Saturday night I spoke at the 5 & 6:15 pm service and then Sunday at the 9, 10:15 & 11:30 am services.  Wow.  I was exhausted, but I loved every minute of it!

The Colonie Location.

The Point Church – we sent the video to my church!

One of the things that I loved about Northway is how excited the people from this church were.  Volunteers were so pumped about serving.  Every person I spoke with had a story – when they started attending?  how Northway has impacted their life?  The energy was infectious.

Keep up the great work Northway!!!  Scratch the itch!

Weekend Reflections

25 01 2010

Wow.  What an amazing weekend at The Point.  You can feel the energy in the theater every single Sunday.  I love being there.

* Service started 10 minutes early with Christina and Paul free sparring.  Set the stage for our Get Fit: Physically teaching.

* Worship was amazing as usual.  We have one of the best teams.  It’s true!

* Nick brought a great teaching on Physical Fitness.  The Bible compares the church to the body.  Church and Body are both to be healthy – healthy things grow.

* PointKids reached a ***new record*** attendance.  We need to get the 2nd theater.  It would cost another $10,000 per year.

* The Point reached a January Sunday attendance record and our attendance since April 09.

* We had a load of guests.  In fact, when the service began 50% of the attendance must have been guests.  I loved it.

* Our offering has been in a slump.  This week was no different.  Thank God we received some unexpected donations during the week.  God will always make up the difference.

* Our volunteer teams may be some of the best.  Host Team is doing an amazing job.  Set-up/Worship/Audio-Visual is at peak.

It is so awesome to see The Point growing.  Love the passion of our people.  Love the presence of God in a theater.

Portable Solutions

30 11 2009

The portable church is faced with lots of pro’s and even a few con’s.  I think the positives far outweigh the negatives – by far.  One of our core values is that the church should find itself in the marketplace – that requires being portable (for most).  That’s why we meet in a movie theater!  We love it!

After nearly 2 years of setting up and tearing down every week I am not tired or frustrated.  In fact, this increases our volunteer involvement.  We are used to it!  To be honest it seems like another day at the office.

Last week we had some sound challenges.  This week we brought in the tools and repaired our ailing sound system.  Most of what we have is used and aging.  So the Pastor turned Technician this week to troubleshoot and help repair – we did it!  Sound was GREAT!

For every problem the portable church faces it forces us to be creative.  And we often have to be re-creative!

So if you are portable here’s my advice:

1.  Enjoy the journey.
The church is not about buildings.  It is about people.  Don’t wish for what God has not provided yet – be content where you are, with what you have. Read the rest of this entry »

Just the Numbers

20 08 2009

We do an online, confidential survey to all of our guests.  It has become one of our greatest resources into understanding “how” we are doing and “what” is working.

So, here’s our numbers (based on answers collected):

online-survey* 62.7% of our guests invited by friend/family member
* 100% of our guests enjoyed the experience at The Point
* 93.7% found us to be friendly
* 84.1% enjoyed the music
* 96.8% thought the message was relevant and mattered
* 90.5% would invite a friend to The Point

Age Breakdown of Guests:

3.2% – under 18
17.7% – ages 19-24
37.1% – ages 25-34
22.6% – ages 35-44
14.5% – ages 45-54
4.8% – ages 55+

How are your numbers?  Do you track your progress?

Sunday Vitals

22 03 2009

What can I say?  Every Sunday @ The Point is an amazing experience.  Today was no different!  I wake up every Sunday with a silly, child-like smile on my face because I am truly living my dream!

Our Worship Arts Team is getting better and better each week.  They help set-up … they practice … they help break down … and not once do they complain (at least not to me)!  As Micki and the team led the worship you could truly feel that God was there.  I love that feeling! Motivation

17 03 2009

What motivates you?  I know the number one factor in my motivation is giving God my best.  The best years of my life!  The best hours in a day!  The best of my family (which is all of it)!  The best of my skills!  The best of my love!  The best of my worship!  The best of my teachings!  I think you get the picture!

But another motivator for me is decline!  I want to make a difference – an impact!   Read the rest of this entry »

What a Sunday!

16 03 2009

img_0078

I love Sundays!  I get to do what I love and what I am called to!

The service was very exciting and passionate.  Our Worship Arts Team was fantastic – they sounded great and led some great worship.  After the service I was able to speak with several people who said the message was ”needed”, “perfect for them”, “practical” and “to the point.”  It feels good to get some feedback from people in the church.

Our attendance used to fluctuate so much … Read the rest of this entry »

Sunday Vitals

25 01 2009

I think I say this every week, but I believe The Point is rocking.  I love what I do and I love the people who have joined us on this journey.  Today was a blast – music was incredible – visual illustration was effective – videos were inspirational – message was “on point” (as one visitor commented on the way out) – and lives were changed!!!!

The theater was filled and it felt good!!!  The Kids Zone was packed too!!!  Great attendance and high energy!

I have never been part of a church experience where people applaud at the end of every service … very encouraging and inspiring!!!

Can’t wait for the Village Venue on Wednesday (7:30 pm).
