Only Words …

19 11 2007

It is Sunday night and we finished our 2nd monthly service. Unbelievable! It was a long day, but a great day!

Here are some highlights:
1. We had 142 people in the theater / plus 8 children in Point Kids.
2. 42 first-time visitors.
3. 4 first time decisions for Christ.

What else can you say? I love church planting … at least, today!

2 Big Days = Big Results

16 11 2007

It has been a busy month geering up for our next service on Sunday, Nov. 18. Lots of canvassing … evangelism … and events! The last 2 days have been HUGE.

1. Last night (11/15) – CCF hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner for the students of NYIT. They had about 150-200 students. MIND BLOWING! CCF is the Christian Campus Club that meets every week and I am privileged to help coach this group of students. I was able to connect with many college students who have no church background – some said they may come to The Point on Sunday. Let’s pray! We gave away A VIDEO IPOD … Starbucks Gift Cards … and CD’s from Allison Harms … I left the event last night totally glad to be part of CCF and The Point – what a great team!!!!

2. Today (11/16) – I received a call from the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God – George Wood. I was shocked and speechless. He told me that he was calling some new church planters to “connect.” He asked about The Point and my family. George Wood is amazing. He assured me that the Assemblies of God in Springfield, MO is praying for us at The Point. This made my month!!! I have never been speechless … (well, actually the first time I saw Mary and when she walked down the aisle) … anyway … you get my point … I love to be part of the Assemblies of God.

I can’t wait for Sunday as we launch our 2nd Monthly Service. Spread the word … invite a friend and discover the point!

Refuel

15 11 2007

Matthew 14:22-23 – “Immediately after this, Jesus made his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake while he sent the people home. Afterward he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone” (NLT).

I have found myself too busy lately. Life comes quick and it comes hard. Being a Lead Pastor at one church and a Youth Pastor at another is NUTS. Especially if you do it at the same time. Crazy. But in the busyness I must find time to refuel … to get energized again!

Here are some rules to refuel by:
1. Everyone needs to refuel (“… Jesus …”)
2. Christ is our source of fuel (“…went up…”)
3. Every person must choose to refuel and select their octane (“…by himself…”)
4. Never get caught on the highway of life on “E”

You can do a lot for God. Anyone can. As long as you don’t find yourself on empty!

Our Weakness is God's Strength

9 11 2007

This morning I was reading Judges 6 for my quiet time with God. I often find it amazing when God sends you to read an inspirational story that you need to hear. Don’t you?

Quick background — God asks Gideon to save Israel and rescue you them out of Midians hand. This is Gideon answer to God’s request: “Pardon me my Lord, but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manhasseh, and I am the least in my family” (Judges 6:15).

This hardly sounds like the fearless leader you would expect God to use (can you sense a tad bit of sarcasm?). God says one of the greatest lines that any person needs to hear over and over again. He says, “I will be with you.”

If there was ever a time I felt like Gideon it has been recently. It seems like the “church” is one of the weakest “clans” in Nassau County and I feel like I am the least likely to be used for the great task of starting a new church. Would somebody pinch me?

But the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that God is “with me.” And if God is with me or you we will win.

What can we learn from Gideon?
1. God’s ability compensates for our lack of ability.
2. God’s call is unavoidable.
3. God presence is with us.
4. God wants us to succeed.

No matter what life looks like never forget God’s promise to be with us!!!
