Expense or Investment?

I think many people have a misunderstanding of giving to the local church or para-church ministries.  Seriously, I have had several people tell me they can’t afford the expense of tithing or giving to missions or whatever.  Giving to God’s Kingdom was never meant to be an expense … it is an investment!!!

22,481 Miracles

Several months ago The Point was hit with a penalty of $23,000 for a NY State agency for non-compliance.  We appealed it and won!  It was supposed to take 6 months for the appeals process, but we heard back in 2 months!  It is amazing what takes place when God has your back.  The penalty was reduced  by 22,481 dollars!

Not that we need it, but this is another indicator that God wants The Point to succeed!

This reminded me of one of the most encouraging Scriptures in The Bible … Isaiah 54:17 … “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed” (ESV).  

It is great to be on a winning team … God’s Team!!!

We are excited about our first all church retreat!  It is going to take place on May 24-26 in CT.  We are finalizing details this week – location and cost.  I am really excited about this … I really hope every person that attends The Point joins us on this historic trip.

Currently Reading: "A Man of God"

Have you ever read the beginning of a book only to get distracted and never finish it?  This has happened to me several times in the course of 14 years of ministry.  As a pastor one of the things people always give is books.  That’s the case of the book I have re-started by Jack Graham, “A Man of God.”  What a book?  I am glad that I picked it up again!

There is one overall truth that run throughout this book.  It is Matthew 10:25.  “It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher.”

I have had to ask myself the question:  “Am I like my teacher?  Am I truly like Jesus?”

My personal prayer for 09 is simply that my “proximity to God” would be my highest priority!!!

Sunday Vitals

I think I say this every week, but I believe The Point is rocking.  I love what I do and I love the people who have joined us on this journey.  Today was a blast – music was incredible – visual illustration was effective – videos were inspirational – message was “on point” (as one visitor commented on the way out) – and lives were changed!!!!

The theater was filled and it felt good!!!  The Kids Zone was packed too!!!  Great attendance and high energy!

I have never been part of a church experience where people applaud at the end of every service … very encouraging and inspiring!!!

Can’t wait for the Village Venue on Wednesday (7:30 pm).

This morning we will be learning about PRIORITIES.  We are one month into the New Year and we will see how well we have done in 25 days of fulfilled or undeveloped resolutions.

Matthew 6:33:  “Seek first the Kingdom of God …”

We have two purposes and God has one priority according to this passage … Come today and discover God with us!!!

One Church: Two Locations

About 11 months ago we started Point Westbury and it has been an amazing journey!  Nearly 100 people gather on a weekly basis each Sunday.  After 6 months in to this new church we realized our need to develop more opportunities to fulfill our number 1 mission – DISCOVER GOD!

Our theater venue meets on Sundays at 10:15 am (Loews Raceway 10 – 1025 Corporate Dr) and now our village venue meets on Wednesdays @ 7:30 pm (Genesis Church – 351 Scally Place).  Both locations in Westbury.

Point >> On The BIG Screen

We decided to run an 30 sec commercial prior to all the movies at Loews Raceway 10 (Westbury) and Roosevelt Field (Garden City) for 13 weeks.  We hired an amazing design team to create something we really love.  I never thought I would say this, but “GO TO THE MOVIES and see The Point on the BIG Screen.”
